Dear
foxhunter,
Many of you know the animal rights movement is trying to take advantage of
the recent tragedy with the Kentucky Derby. In particular HSUS and PETA.
They claim horse racing, eventing, any kind of
horse competition should be banned, but for now they are concentrating on
horse racing. PETA has just closed down a Kentucky Horse Park event with a demonstration.
The animal rights organizations ability to get news coverage for their
twisted views of how animals should be used is frustrating considering the
very small percentage horses killed in sport events. They aren’t interested
in animal welfare. Any physical sporting event has some risk be it human or
animal. This recent attack on horse racing is all connected to the animal
rights other goals culminating with a petless/meatless
society. Today PETA has killed more than 19,200 cats and dogs claiming to
try and find them homes. That makes a “90.9 percent of them to death at its
Norfolk, VA headquarters. And despite its
official status as a “humane society” and a pet “releasing agency” in Virginia, PETA found adoptive homes for
only 17 animals all year. Just 17.” (Consumer Freedom). “Instead they have
become leading killers of cats and dogs, and the animal-loving public
unwittingly foots the bill through taxes and donations.”
But HSUS is the real villain with close ties to PETA and a softer image.
HSUS is trying to capitalize on a Virginia Department of Game and Inland
Fisheries (VDGIF) study and change it to ban all hunting with hounds in Virginia. This study was put together
by VDGIF to save hunting with hounds for future generations, the goal: “To
provide diverse opportunities for hunting with Hounds in Virginia in a
manner that is fair, sportsmanlike and consistent with the rights of
private and public property owners and other citizens.” VDGIF has a
website: www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/hounds
to solicit comments from Virginians on the issue. The study has a
committee of what they call stakeholders to deal with the issues. No animal
rights organizations or anti hunting organizations were allowed on this
committee since it is contrary to the goal of saving hunting with hounds.
HSUS tried to get on the committee and was denied. The committee consists
of people who have a stake in the issues, who hunt with hounds, deer, bear,
fox and coon and landowners. Both night foxhunters and two mounted
foxhunters are on the committee. There is a lot of misinformation on what that committee
is trying to do. It is not trying to restrict hunting with hounds.
HSUS has solicited its membership Nationwide to hijack the study and get Virginia to ban all hunting with
hounds:

We hope you will go to

and express your views.
